Bike basics

Want to know more about your bike and how to look after it?
Bike Basics is a 2.5 hour introductory workshop that will introduce you to basic bike maintenance.
We'll give you some top tips on how to clean and maintain your bike, what basic tools you'll need, how to diagnose basic problems, and how to fix those dreaded rear-wheel punctures!
The session is aimed at cyclists with little or no bike maintenance know-how and it is suitable for riders of road, hybrid and mountain bikes.

Bike basics for women - by women
Experience has shown us that, time and time again, when it comes to bike maintenance, many women (and we've all done it) will pass the spanner to a bloke when those inevitable bike niggles start occurring, or in the absence of a bloke, we'll take it down to the bike shop and pay a fortune for a 10-minute job.
In mixed-gender maintenance workshops even the most 'tecchie' of us will often end up passing the spanner because the bolt's too tight or it's taking us too long, thereby missing out on learning some really crucial bike servicing skills that will really come into their own if you're out cycling alone.
Bike maintenance is easier than it looks and being able to fix your own bike gives you a real sense of independence and empowerment. That's why we also offer all of our workshop sessions with a women-only option. You'll be shown the same basic bike skills in a friendly, all-female environment, instructed by a 'Cytech Level Two' qualified female mechanic.

Brakes masterclass
This 2-hour workshop concentrates solely on maintaining your brakes
We'll show you how to make adjustments to your brakes, how to change your brake blocks and how to replace both front and rear brake cables.
The session is aimed at cyclists that have already attended our Bike Basics workshop or have good basic maintenance skills and a set of basic tools.
